The opportunity
As a Mechanical Design Manager, you will lead a team within our mechanical engineering function, where the development of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems is at the core. The work spans instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and thermal‑hydraulic or heat‑transfer systems used in the production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
In this role, you apply advanced engineering research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems. As a leader, you supervise a team of professional engineers—typically at entry or experienced level—and may also oversee para‑professional employees. You ensure that your team understands and follows established policies, practices, and procedures, and you represent the function towards customers and stakeholders.
As a leader here, you set the tone: You foster a culture of clarity, accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence. Through clear direction and constructive dialogue, you guide your team to deliver high‑quality results while supporting their growth and development.

- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, support, and oversight to a team of engineers and para‑professionals.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and engineering standards are understood and followed.
- Drive the team’s output to meet safety, integrity, financial, and delivery requirements.
- Support development, research, planning, design, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Address technical and operational challenges—typically difficult but not highly complex—with sound engineering judgment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure effective communication and alignment.
Your background
- You hold a university degree in Engineering or have equivalent technical experience.
- Experience in supervising or coordinating engineering teams is beneficial, but not mandatory.
- You are a structured, decisive leader with the ability to guide professional‑level staff.
- You can balance operational tasks with long‑term planning and development needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling trust and effective collaboration.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; additional language skills are a merit.
