
Pharmacy Technician IV - Specialty
Job Description
This position provides telephone and/or the processing of patient claims support to pharmacy patients, providers and pharmacies ensuring that patients are eligible for and receive prescribed medications in an accurate and timely manner via appropriate delivery methods. This includes managing prior authorization and other reimbursement requirements, patient tracking, customer service, patient education, issue resolution and/or escalation and ensuring claims are submitted correctly and paid by third party payers.
Responsibilities
- Complete intake process for mail order, specialty, transplant and limited distribution pharmacy patients including new patient enrollment, insurance verification, medication refill and delivery schedule.
- Assist in resolving any billing issues, obtaining prior authorization for medications as needed, verifying eligibility and escalating as appropriate.
- Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from patients, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.
- Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested, as well as work closely with the rest of the leadership team to resolve any disruptions with this process.
- Communicates directly with patient to assist them in awareness of their medications.
- Act as subject matter expert and assist supervisor in managing workflow by performing independent problem solving and decision making.
- Train all new call center technician training for new hires and peers transitioning into new roles.
- Other responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to: data collection, reporting, process improvement and maintenance of patient education materials.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Pharmacy Tech Program
- 2 years experience as a pharmacy technician
- Pharmacy Technician MN
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years pharmacy technician experience in a call center environment
- Pharmacy Technician Natl
