The opportunity
The Clinical Advisor is a consultative (non-clinical) role that provides expert clinical consultations and supports claims teams administering primarily auto accident benefits.
As a subject matter expert in injury, treatment, and rehabilitation, the Clinical Advisor helps align care decisions with legislation, approved Programs of Care, and best practice standards, supporting effective recovery and return-to-work outcomes. Th focus is on enhancing customer outcomes and clinical consistency by supporting front line claims teams with medical interpretations, recovery planning, and evidence‑based recommendations—without assuming claim ownership or adjudication authority.

What you’ll do
Assist front line claims staff in interpreting complex medical and functional information
Provide consultations on barriers to recovery, treatment appropriateness, and functional restoration strategies
Assist with aligning functional impairments to recovery trajectories to achieve sustainable return to work and activities of daily living outcomes
Provide insight and training on catastrophic injury management and permanent impairment considerations
Knowledge transfer and delivery of training to support building medical acumen of Claims Adjusters
Lead special projects and initiatives to improve processes and/or quality of claims management
Identify when additional clinical expertise or medical opinions are warranted
Support litigation and dispute resolution strategy by providing expertise in injury, recovery, and disability issues
Collaborate with vendor managers and preferred treatment networks (PPN) to ensure customers are receiving evidence-based treatment consistently and in compliance with legislative requirements
What you’ll bring
Degree in Health Sciences, rehabilitation, disability management or related field, with strong preference for Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Registered Nurse, or Kinesiologist
Regulated Healthcare Professional, registered and in good standing with their respective College (e.g., Alberta College of Occupational Therapists or equivalent)
5+ years of clinical practice in injury management, rehabilitation, case management, return to work or disability settings
Experience with complex or catastrophic injuries preferred, including chronic conditions and permanent disabilities Preference for candidates with insurance, disability management, or injury claims experience
Certified Disability Management Professional designation, Knowledge of auto accident benefits, WCB, or disability systems and prior experience supporting non‑clinical stakeholders are considered a strong asset
Strong clinical reasoning and ability to translate medical information into practical guidance
Advanced understanding of functional recovery, rehabilitation, and disability management principles
Ability to balance empathy for injured customers with evidence‑based recommendations
Strong communication skills - able to influence without direct authority
Passion for improving customer outcomes and commitment to ongoing professional development
Comfort navigating ambiguity, complexity, and regulatory frameworks
Collaborative mindset with coaching and advisory orientation
Strong documentation, organization, and digital proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and data management/analysis skills
