POSITION: Special Education Coordinator
START DATE: 2026-2027 School Year
Certification: Must hold State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Special Education
Qualifications: Clean Criminal Background Check and Child Protection Registry and TB Clearance required prior to employment
Salary: Teacher salary schedule based on experience and degree. Salary Schedule can be found on the district website: https://www.irsd.net/departments/human-resources/salary-scales
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold State of Delaware Certification in Special Education
- Must have at least 5 years experience as a Special Education Teacher
- Bilingual written and verbal Spanish strongly preferred
- Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all case managers have what they need to do their job and support them when needed.
- Ensure coordination of ALL services outlines in the IEPs for all students.
- Create a yearlong master schedule for all annual review and triennial evaluation meetings and share with case managers, related service specialists and school psychologists.
- Schedule other meetings as they arise including, but not limited to: progress meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, concern meetings, parent/family requested meetings, revision meetings, manifestation meetings, intake meetings, senior exit meetings, transition meetings and any other IEP related meetings that arise during the school year.
- Ensure all accommodations are verified and enter in accordance with district/state deadlines.
- Coordinate schedules to ensure that all needed stakeholders are at the table (specialist, translators, etc.)
- Plan appropriate professional development for your special education department.
- Conduct small group testing and intervention
- Serve as a special education teacher as needed/when requested by administration
- Other duties as requested by the Special Education administration
