Job Purpose: The Dishwasher performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Department and is accountable to the Dining Manager. In the absence of Dining Manager, Dishwasher is accountable to the Cook.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform dietary service duties using proper utensils, equipment, and supplies under the direction of the Dietary Manager.
- Assist with meal service activities, including tray preparation, delivery and removal, dining room and beverage service, and between-meal nourishment.
- Wash dishes, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment; ensure proper sanitation and organized storage.
- Clean and maintain kitchen, dining, food storage, and supply areas, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal, according to community schedules.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment in compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and unsanitary conditions promptly to a supervisor.
- Follow infection control, fire safety, disaster preparedness, and workplace safety procedures.
- Attend required staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Perform duties efficiently to support timely meal service and complete other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior institutional dietary experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, diet orders, tray cards, and work instructions.
- Able to perform routine, repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and cleaning chemicals accurately.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to handle dishes, operate equipment, and maintain work areas.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including emergencies.
- Professional and respectful when interacting with residents, families, and staff.
