Italian Tutor (part-time, 15 hours a week in presence – Fall 2026, extensible to Spring 2027) – Responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing academic support to undergraduate Italian Language students and collaborate in the activities of the Italian Department and Office of Academic Services.
The Italian Tutor ensures equitable and inclusive treatment of students and other stakeholders at all times.
Principle Duties
- 75% Meet with Italian Language students by appointment to improve their knowledge and practice of the language, manage the appointment schedule
- 15% Assist the Language Coordinator with some aspects of the Program (e.g.: editing of quizzes and exams, organizing the Italian section of the library, translating from Italian into English)
- 10% Collaborate with the Office of Academic Support to organize and implement workshops and events aiming at improving the students’ knowledge of Italian culture and society.
Qualifications
Position Qualifications
Required Education
Degree in the field of language, linguistics, translations, etc or to be enrolled in at least in the last year of one the above mentioned degrees.
Required Certification/Other Qualifications
Candidates must have the unrestricted right to work and live in Florence prior to appointment.
Required Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Level of knowledge of Italian: C2
Level of knowledge of English: B2
Successful candidates must show evidence of their ability to legally work in Italy.
Preferred Education
Preferred Certification/Other Qualifications
Preferred Experience: Experience in Italian Language tutoring with international students
