Summary/Description: The UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to UI Health’s Hematology/Oncology services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the areas of hematology and oncology in the hospital and on-site clinics at the University of Illinois Hospital. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban, indigent patient population. It is among a select group of medical centers accredited by the Commission on Cancer. Cancer services at UI Health are comprised of several programs committed to diagnosing and treating common and rare cancers including breast, colorectal, gynecologic, head neck, hematologic/blood, lung, and other cancers. The Retzky College of Pharmacy, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the #1 college of pharmacy in the state of Illinois and #6 in total research grant funding, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Duties: The hematology and oncology clinical pharmacist team will consist of 6 pharmacists who are integral members of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital and clinics. The Clinical Pharmacist duties includes medication review and reconciliation, medication selection and dosing recommendations, TPN management, immunosuppression and infectious disease prophylaxis selection, management of nausea and pain, therapeutic drug monitoring, provision of drug information, and patient education. The candidate will also be responsible for nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development; coordinating and conducting quality initiative projects and developing collaborative treatment and research protocols. The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents, and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
