AXA XL Large Commercial Excess Casualty division has an exciting opportunity to join the Central Zone underwriting team
AXA XL's Excess Casualty business unit offers Umbrella and Excess Liability coverage to North American based Insureds
Underwriting teams are based in the United States, Bermuda and Canada and this opening is in Dallas, Texas
Coverage is written on an occurrence, claims-made or occurrence reported basis
Our broad range of appetite includes clients in manufacturing, retail, hospitality, real estate, banking, wholesale distribution and many more
What you’ll be doing The candidate will handle both new and renewal business
Your responsibilities will include: Underwrite, manage and service your own book of business managing the KPIs and Guidelines per AXA XL underwriting guidelines and annual goals
Market and solicit new business opportunities from our broker partners to establish and grow your relationships in the retail community
Cross-sell with other business units to maximize AXA XL’s successes thru data-mining, targeted accounts and relationships
Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports and loss runs while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account
Utilize underwriting tools including exposure, experience and industry ratings to analyze complex casualty exposure
Loss rating experience is a plus
Adhere to underwriting guidelines, underwriting authorities and referral requirements as needed to regional management, product management and chief underwriting officers
Collaborate with internal colleagues in the assessment of current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering
Service your book of business in conjunction with our Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements
Contribute to regional planning through the development and execution of your own annual desk-level underwriting plan
Travel throughout the territory (20%) for client, broker and internal meetings
Our underwriting territory encompasses TX, OK, AR and LA
You will report to the Dallas Underwriting Manager for Excess Casualty
What you’ll bring We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Manage and develop effective relationships with your peers, brokers, agents and risk management community through organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills
Underwriting experience, a plus if this includes umbrella & excess casualty and a thorough knowledge of coverages and contracts
Proactive analysis internally and externally to complete your underwriting analysis, problem-solving skills as well as robust sales and marketing abilities
Experience working hands-on with actuarial, referral and colleagues
Outstanding Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration and presentation skills
Negotiation skills and strategic mental agility required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 97,100 - 161,900
Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location
