Role Overview

As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of a skilled production team responsible for assembling technically complex, high-value products. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and the Cargo Research Team, you will support the build of a new generation of inspection systems while contributing to product quality, testing, and continuous improvement activities.


Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components and complete systems to engineering specifications
  • Carry out testing of sub-assemblies, including pressure, leak, and coolant system testing
  • Accurately record assembly work, test results, and any modifications completed
  • Work in compliance with ISO9001 quality standards and audited processes
  • Support product quality assurance activities, including root cause analysis of failed hardware
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical and production issues
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area in line with 5S principles
  • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork

Qualifications

  • Time-served mechanical experience
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Understanding of mechanical fasteners, bearings, gears, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Experience in precision assembly or working with complex machinery
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture within a production environment
  • Desirable Experience
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Degree in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline
  • Experience working with pressure systems and ultra-high vacuum systems
  • Experience using lifting equipment
  • Forklift truck and scissor lift operation experience
  •
