We are seeking a Field Service Controls Engineer to support automated systems within the Life Sciences industry. This position is based in Cookeville, TN, with both domestic and international travel required. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing complex automation equipment while delivering exceptional field service support to customers.

How You'll Contribute

  • Travel to customer sites, both planned and unplanned, to provide technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair services.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues to restore and maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Provide remote technical support using various communication and connectivity platforms.
  • Create, interpret, and troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical schematics, as well as bills of material, using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Perform robot programming and path modifications to maintain or improve system functionality.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and modify control programs for automated equipment and integrated systems.
  • Conduct electrical diagnostics and testing using standard tools, including multimeters and other troubleshooting equipment.
  • Apply wiring standards and best practices to ensure safe, reliable machine operation.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and support ladder logic and machine control systems using industry-standard software platforms.
  • Partner with customers and internal teams to establish, monitor, and achieve machine performance objectives.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems, components, and automation technologies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers to support team growth and development.

What We're Looking For

  • BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering, field service engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Familiarity with Life Sciences equipment and validation processes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally up to 75%.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with both mechanical and electrical systems in an automated manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Regular standing, walking, pushing, pulling, overhead reaching, and bending.
  • Comfortable working underneath machines and overhead.

    • Up to 10 lbs continuously
  • Visual acuity (near vision, with or without correction).
