• A 28-bed unit specializing in orthopedic and surgical care located within an Orthopedic Specialty Hospital at Sanford South University campus housing the orthopedic clinics and surgery center.
• As a Center of Joint Success, the main focus is caring for patients undergoing elective orthopedic surgeries and total joint replacements. Nurses work very closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and providers throughout the day to ensure patients receive optimal care.
• The unit is known for being a fast-paced unit with a culture of teamwork that leads to positive outcomes for both employees and patients.
• Closed campus staffing along with the inpatient acute Rehab unit (not required to float to other campuses).
• Opportunities for self-scheduling.
• Ongoing support during and after orientation via clinical learning and development specialists and Nurse Residency Program for new graduates.

Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Qualifications

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.

If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility.
