POSITION TITLE: Special Education Inclusion Paraprofessional
GRADES: 9-12
STATUS: Full-Time Position

Position Description:
Las Américas ASPIRA Academy is looking for a highly motivated paraprofessional to work with special education students across multiple settings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the delivery of high-quality instruction in small group settings in both push- in and pull-out models to identified and unidentified students alike.
- Collaborate with general education and special education teachers around strategies and interventions to use with identified and unidentified struggling learners.
- Assist with instruction and monitoring of Math and/or Reading intervention as needed.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school- wide functions.
- Provide direct support with students experiencing behaviors and/or trauma by reinforcing behavior skills in individual or small groups, monitoring and enforcing acceptable social and physical behavior, implementing replacement behaviors, behavior plans, safety plans, and/or monitor students and assist with de-escalation
- Monitor students in classroom and during breaks, lunch, recess, time outs, on field trips, getting on and off the bus, etc. Reinforce school-wide discipline procedures.
- Collect, record and summarize data on observable student behavior, assist with skill acquisition and document interventions and progress data.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge, coursework, and certification in teaching exceptional learners.
- Comfort and fluency with reading and math content, as well as Common Core State Standards in Reading and Mathematics.
- Possess or be eligible for a valid State of Delaware Paraprofessional Certificate (for more information on State of Delaware licensure, please visit the website of the Department of Education at: http://regulations.delaware.gov/AdminCode/title14/1500/1510.shtml
- Knowledge and understanding of dual language learners.
- Strong instructional skills and classroom management.
- Ability to reflect upon teaching practices and respond to constructive feedback.
