Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems, part of Acadia Healthcare, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead nursing operations, elevate clinical excellence, and drive outstanding patient outcomes across our behavioral health continuum of care. Vermilion provides specialized mental health and addiction treatment services for adolescents and adults in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Your Impact as Chief Nursing Officer
As a key member of the hospital's executive leadership team, you will provide strategic oversight for all nursing services while fostering a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and patient-centered care.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead all nursing operations and clinical service delivery
  • Develop and execute nursing strategies that support organizational goals
  • Mentor, coach, and develop nursing leaders and frontline teams
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and federal regulations
  • Oversee staffing plans, workforce development, and labor management
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
  • Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
  • Monitor operational and clinical performance metrics
  • Support survey readiness and accreditation activities
  • Participate in executive decision-making and long-range strategic planning

  • Active RN License (LA or eligible for reciprocity). 
  • Proven Nursing Leadership (CNO, DON, or equivalent). 
  • Behavioral Health Experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting (required). 
  • Strategic & Operational Expertise with strong interpersonal skills. 
  • BSN required; MSN or mental health nursing preferred. 
  • Experience:
    • 6+ years RN experience (10+ preferred).
    • 3+ years progressive nursing management.
    • 2+ years behavioral health RN experience in inpatient psychiatry.
