Caribbean Label Crafts Ltd., a member of Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) operates three production facilities in Barbados, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, offering our regional customers design services and premium quality packaging solutions that add value to their brands.
We are looking for a talented individual who shares our values to join our team as an Estimator/Planner. This position reports to the Planning Manager.
THE ROLE:
The key responsibilities of the Estimator/Planner are:
- Reviewing and analyzing new projects prior to commencing pre-production/production work
- Gathering information in preparation for calculating estimates for jobs
- Analyzing previous job tickets, if available, to review prior time, cost, materials and labour to offer general advice on improving future production runs
- Determining the amount of paper/substrates, ink, and finishing materials required
- Calculating unit and production costs for digital, hybrid and conventional flexographic projects
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative materials or production methods to the Sales & Customer Service Department and clients
- Utilizing Print Management Information Systems (e.g. Label Traxx) to generate estimates
- Creating detailed, written quotations outlining timelines, pricing, and delivery terms
- Revising estimates as needed when project specifications change
- Reviewing job tickets and specifications for accuracy before releasing projects to the production floor
- Collaborating with production teams to navigate potential manufacturing challenges
- Performing post-project job cost analysis to compare final production costs with the original estimate, i.e., actual to estimate comparisons
- Maintaining and updating accurately, the database of costs and estimates
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- City and Guilds Certification in Printing from a recognized institution, or
- Five (5) years’ experience in commercial, digital or flexographic printing
- Technical experience in digital and flexographic print production
- Detail, accuracy and results oriented
- Excellent memory and ability to recall pertinent information
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to multitask and work flexible hours, overtime, weekends and public holidays
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure
- Computer literate
