Overview

We are looking for an experienced & dynamic Tokyo-based Managing Director, overseeing MTV operations in Japan, including leading the creative direction of the channel, as well as driving sales of Vubiquity products and services to operators (customers) across Japan and the APAC region.

With an extensive range of digital solutions that can be rapidly and flexibly deployed, the world’s leading content owners and service providers trust Vubiquity to power their consumer-facing, entertainment experiences.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue growth:  Grow MTV Japan affiliate, ad sales and sponsorship revenue; expand licensing business within Japan; establish customer base for Vubiquity Media Supply Chain with Japan and across Asia.
  • Run MTV Japan operations, including affiliate sales, programming, marketing, artist and label management, ad sales and channel distribution.
  • Development of new formats and other programming initiatives for MTV Japan.
  • Production of large-scale arena events, such as the MTV Japan Video Music Awards.
  • Develop various sales channels for the Vubiquity portfolio of products and services across Japan, and more generally in Asia.
  • Build strategic business relationships with potential partners and customers.
  • Create & own sales plans based on company goals that will promote revenue growth and customer satisfaction for the organization.
  • Work closely with the delivery team to ensure success during all stages of the customer life cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-matrixed teams to drive results
  • This is an office-based role.

Required Background & Experience

  • Channel Operations experience.
  • A track record of building branding relationships to secure sponsorship and other funding for creative projects.
  • A creative mind-set with a finger on the pulse of what Japanese television audiences are consuming, and an understanding of the types of new programming that will grow MTV Japan’s audience.
  • Existing CXO relationships with major studios, networks and partners, including a strong network of relationships with Streaming Services, Telcos, ISPs and Cable & Satellite Operators in Japan and across Asia.
  • Proven success across all aspects of sales, including growth strategies, account development, commercial negotiations, go-to-market, and business planning.
  • Experience in selling content/entertainment solutions to platforms.
  • Very good understating of the media supply chain:  Content Processing/Encoding, Localization, Mastering and Delivery Solutions.
  • Experience selling both platforms and services.
  • A customer focused approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Location is Tokyo.
