GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. GEAR UP is a federal grant-funded program to empower first-generation and underrepresented students on their path to college.
GEAR UP Staunton at JMU serves a two-year cohort from the Staunton City Public School District, starting in middle school, following the cohort through high school, and two years after high school graduation.
As a GEAR UP Math Tutor, you'll play a role in creating a supportive, collaborative environment for students and the broader school community. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in students’ lives while gaining meaningful experience in college access and academic success initiatives.
The Math Tutor will work closely with the GEAR UP Project Director, Program Advisors, Parent Liaison, and a team of other student workers.
