Job Description
Supports the delivery of athletic summer camp programming by assisting with setup/breakdown, check-in/check-out and camp breaks. Provides excellent customer service to camp participants and parents/guardians. Performs routine support work assisting with the preparation and implementation of recreation programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
**Shift Hours and/or Days Worked: Monday-Friday
**Hours Required for this position: 20 hours~ Provide excellent customer service to participants, parents/guardians and the general public
~ Ensure daily check-in and check-out procedures are followed
~ Assist with camp setup, takedown, camp breaks and activity transitions
~ Support camp activities under the direction of camp instructors or athletic supervisors
~ Observes activities to ensure the protection of attendees and the general public
~ Complete documentation daily and incident reports, as needed
~ Represent the department positively at campsEducation:
Preferred: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Experience:
Required: Prior experience working with the public
Preferred: Some experience providing recreation services
Certifications/Licenses:
Required: Valid Virginia driver’s license with good driving record
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge and interest in activities/events/subject in programs to be assigned.
Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public and encourage participation in various activities.
Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a positive environment.
Ability and desire to work with individuals with varied and diverse backgrounds.
Ability to perform basic mathematics and documentation skills.
Ability to write using correct spelling and basic grammar.
Willingness to work indoors or outdoors and in varying conditions.
Must be available to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings, based on camp schedule.

Additional Requirements:
Must be age sixteen (16) or older. Must complete pre-employment training. Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Must be able to perform job as described in the Physical Demands and Environmental Factors section of this job description.
