Holman’s upfitting division has a great opportunity for an Installation Mechanic B to join our team in Ft. Wayne, IN
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30
- Pay: $21 per hour based on experience
- Important skills: electrical wiring, hydraulics, welding, mechanical knowledge
- Must be able to provide basic hand and power tools
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble vehicles using work instructions, prints, and specifications.
- Install and connect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane systems and controls.
- Fabricate and install truck bodies, equipment, boxes, and specialty components.
- Fill vehicle systems with required fluids and perform functional testing of installed equipment.
- Verify work order completion and ensure all required tasks are accurately documented.
- Record equipment serial numbers, key numbers, and other required vehicle information.
- Conduct visual quality inspections and identify defects, leaks, installation issues, or manufacturing concerns.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
- Perform MIG welding, cutting, and fabrication activities while meeting quality standards.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts by identifying process enhancements and reporting issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety policies.
- Support team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of vehicle, engine, or equipment repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience reading and working from wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and work orders.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to perform MIG welding and quality welds in multiple positions.
- Ability to operate cutting torches and plasma cutters safely.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
- AWS Welding Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with truck equipment installation, vocational trucks, utility bodies, or upfit operations.
- Intermediate electrical and hydraulic repair experience.
- Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic equipment and software.
- Experience with electric-over-hydraulic and central hydraulic systems.
- Valid driver's license.

Regular Full-Time

Pay:
We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $20.00 - $25.25 USD per hour.Artificial Intelligence Statement
