THIS RECRUITMENT IS A SUPPLEMENTAL POSTING TO THE ORIGINAL RECRUITMENT.
APPLICANTS WHO PREVIOUSLY APPLIED AND WERE DEEMED INELIGIBLE, BUT NOW MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW AND WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST RE-APPLY.
Performs field inspections and surveillance in an assigned sanitation district to detect violations of regulatory waste rules and regulations.
Uses assigned tablet to complete and document daily work.
Uses software and applications to deliver efficient service delivery.
Conducts preliminary screening of public complaints or requests. Acts on routine matters not requiring attention of a supervisor, and when necessary, prepares case for enforcement through court action.
Investigates complaints from various sources pertaining to lot cleaning problems and conditions.
Prepares and serves notices to remove existing violations; writes citations in cases of failure to remove a violation and testifies at hearings or in court as complaining witness as required.
Prepares written investigative field reports of violations for submission to supervisor together with detailed summary of daily activities.
Helps coordinate inspection and surveillance activities with Waste Division operational supervisors to correct deficiencies on the part of the garbage and trash collection crews.
Meets with complainants, individuals, or civic groups for the purpose of rectifying any misunderstanding concerning rubbish and garbage problems.
Performs other related work as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Florida Association of Code Enforcement F.A.C.E. certification in Fundamentals of Code Enforcement will be required before the end of the employee’s probationary period and must be maintained current while employed in this classification.
Employees in this classification will be required to work various shifts, to include nights, holidays and weekends on a regular basis.

Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
- An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
- A current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), OR
- A current member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE), OR
- A recognized Professional Organization

City of Miami residents are granted selection preference over non-City of Miami residents within the same ranking band resulting from an interview process.
Selection Preference: Selection preference within the same ranking band resulting from an interview process will be granted in the following order: 1) preference eligible veterans, 2) active City of Miami employees, 3) City of Miami residents, 4) all others.
