Position Summary
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. This role delivers exceptional service by crafting drinks to standard recipes, maintaining an engaging yet professional atmosphere, and ensuring the bar is clean, organized, and fully stocked. The Bartender enhances the guest experience while contributing to revenue through product knowledge and effective upselling.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Service
Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and service staff according to standard recipes and portion controls
Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all beverages
Provide friendly, attentive, and professional service in a high-energy environment
Guest Experience & Sales
Describe menu items and make recommendations on wine, beer, spirits, and cocktails
Upsell food and beverage offerings to enhance guest experience and maximize revenue
Accommodate guest preferences, dietary needs, and special requests when possible
Bar Setup & Operations
Set up and maintain the bar, including stocking liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and glassware
Perform opening and closing duties in accordance with standard operating procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar and service area
Cash Handling & POS
Accurately process cash, credit card, and room charge transactions
Balance cash drawers, complete end-of-shift reports, and calculate tip distributions
Inventory & Compliance
Monitor inventory levels and complete requisitions as needed
Assist with opening and closing inventory counts
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
Adhere to all alcohol service laws and ensure responsible service at all times
Safety & Attendance
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and HAZMAT compliance
Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents promptly
Maintain reliable and punctual attendance
Additional Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize bar equipment, glassware, and work areas
Ensure minors and intoxicated guests are not served alcohol
Resolve guest concerns within scope of authority; escalate when necessary
Report unusual incidents, safety concerns, or suspected theft
Support team members and assist with additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of bartending experience; hotel or resort experience preferred
Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, including cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits
Familiarity with food service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused mindset
Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive situations discreetly
Basic math and cash handling skills
Experience with POS systems
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age
RBS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
Knowledge of applicable health standards and alcohol service regulations
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Prolonged standing and walking in a fast-paced environment
Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs), including kegs and bar supplies
Reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements
Exposure to hot, cold, and noisy environments, including kitchens and bar areas
Handling glassware, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals
Working in crowded, fast-paced, and confined spaces
