Site Manager, Construction Management
Job Description
We are seeking a Site Manager, Construction Management that will act as the Client Representative on our Bellambi Battery Energy Storage System project. The role will be based on project site in the Gulgong region to oversee the performance of the EPC contractor and Transgrid, ensuring that construction activities meet contractual obligations, safety standards, quality benchmarks, and project milestones. The Construction Manager will serve as the key interface between the owner and the EPC contractor during the execution phase. The Construction Manager will act as the primary interface between the owner and the EPC contractor throughout the execution phase.
This is a fixed-term contract position for twelve (12) months.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management
Represent the owner on-site, ensuring the EPC contractor delivers in accordance with contract terms, technical specification, and project schedule
Manage interfaces, risks and disputes with EPC contractor and Transgrid on site.
Liaise with local authorities via the assigned roles for the project.
Manage the Site Coordinator assigned to the project.
Monitor and report on construction activities and attend witness points to ensure compliance with relevant design, specifications, codes, and standards.
Ensure contractors are complying with obligations & responsibilities as defined in the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with Company’s Information Management System (IMS).
Manage claims such as warranty defects with EPC contractor/ key equipment suppliers or insurance claims.
Construction and Due Diligence Technical Management
Monitor and make certain that the latest IFCs are used for construction. Assist with gathering site inputs for design optimisation and constructability of all deliverables and activities performed at site.
Assist in the review and approval of all relevant Site Technical Queries, Design Change Management and Technical Deviation Requests raised by the Contractors in a timely manner.
Risk Assessment and Management
Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), across the site.
Support with the development and review of HSSE documentation including Risk Registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, audit findings etc.
Participate HSSE workshops and other HSSE activities including inspections, audits & investigations.
Quality Assurance and Control
Govern the quality of project documentation including ITP’s/ITR’s, payment claims, etc. A site diary will be kept and updated daily to capture site progress and activities.
Manage, co-ordinate and / or prepare required reports which include regulatory (quarterly, annual, etc.), internal (weekly, monthly, etc.).
Prerequisites:
Minimum TAFE qualifications in areas such as project management, building and construction (Site Management), and renewable energy or minimum 5 years trade background with a position of at least supervisor.
Minimum 2 years experience in managing construction in power generation industry.
Understanding complex, multi-faceted major energy projects across multiple jurisdictional locations.
Understanding project risks & potential exposure for Vena Energy’s various project types (Solar, Battery & other) across the construction & operational phases of a project.
Assist with the development of technical solutions for major energy projects across the construction & operation lifecycle.
Working knowledge of acts, regulations and policies governing project development, project construction and project operation.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
High level of safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
Strong situational awareness and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience in community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
