Overview

Job Summary:
Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures in an acute care MRI department to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs imaging examinations in MRI; May also be trained to perform QC or invasive procedures, such as needle biopsies.
  • Explains procedures to patients and maintains a safe and comfortable environment; Provides necessary pre- and post- procedure patient care.
  • Completes review of patients’ chart to verify exam orders and validate reason for exam.
  • Interview patients regarding personal history, implanted devices, contrast allergies, etc.
  • Practices proper patient positioning and scanning protocols to achieve diagnostic quality imaging.
  • Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment by following applicable protocol parameters to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images.
  • Administer contrast under radiologists’ supervision, when applicable.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure safety throughout the procedure.
  • Implement Magnetic Resonance Safety policies and procedures set by the organization.
  • Maintain accurate records within clinical documentation support systems; Manages imaging data in PACS and documents procedures in EMR.
  • Follows best practice safety guidelines as established by ACR and other regulatory bodies.
  • Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provides clinical instructions and evaluations for students.
  • Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Associate degree in Radiography
  • Experience: 0-4 years
  • Supervisor Experience: None required


Licenses & Certifications:

  • R.T.(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Magnetic Resonance (MR) certification by the ARRT required within 1 year of being hired into the position.
  • BLS required within 30 days of employment.
