Specialist Chemotherapy nurse

• RGN part 1 NMC Register, • Chemotherapy delivery qualification, • Experience in administering oncology medication, either in hospital or community environment, • Clinical teaching experience, Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice qualification or equivalent such as ENB 998 or C G 730, • Experience in delivering chemotherapy, • Clinical skills required include clinical assessment, administering I.V. injections, administering chemotherapy, cannulation and phlebotomy skills • Strong understanding of therapies relevant to service offering, including NHS knowledge relating to the management of patients with treated conditions • Effective communication skills, including actively listening, communicating sensitively, putting people at ease, and making technical details easy to understand. Qualification required for the role : • RGN part 1 NMC Register • Chemotherapy delivery qualification • Experience in administering oncology medication, either in hospital or community environment • Clinical teaching experience • Conduct training interaction(s) to ensure patient and/or carer are able to safely self-medicate relevant oncology medications e.g. oral tablets • Provide on-going support to patients through the combination of support programmes to include telephone, clinicbased and home visits as per product and client protocols • Complete line care for all IV oncology patients, ensuring lines are clean and clear • Check blood results and made decisions on whether critical levels are within safe parameters to continue with treatment. Liaise with referring consultants on any concerns around treatment or if patient is too unwell to receive medication • To support field clinical staff to develop knowledge and skills to deliver person centred care in the field of chemotherapy • Deliver education and clinical skills based training in a variety of locations to ensure that all chemotherapy nurses have their competencies completed • Focus upon work based learning; to give hands on mentoring and support to learners in the clinical workplace undergoing their chemotherapy training and new starters to Sciensus • Administer all IV Oncology medications for all patients undergoing IV cancer treatment
