Job Title
Sr. Manager Production PlanningManage production planning and inventory control functions maximizing BU resources to meet or exceed planned results in inventory levels and operating costs.Coordinates monthly S&OP planning process within the supply planning function to ensure plants can communicate requirements to achieve forecasted demand.
This role is also responsible for leading improvements and actions of production planning personnel within the region. This position is also responsible for inventory strategy and oversight, CoorsTek’s backlog reduction strategy and driving KPI performance for key metrics such as on-time delivery.
Provide dotted-line leadership to an assigned buyer group, ensuring effective purchase order execution and compliance with corporate policies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Leads production planning teams and assigned group of buyers in region to improve performance and proactively prepare for future. Drives adoption of and evolution of CORE – CoorsTek Operations Roadmap to Excellence - our culture of continual improvement.
- Translate disparate sales forecast inputs into capacity requirements for the operations team and provide recommendations for continual improvement in determining and solutioning operational capacity and bottlenecks
- Manages the Production Planning functions, including development, maintenance and execution of the master production schedule and maximizing resources to meet demand. Follows up performance against estimates.
- Manages effective and service-oriented planning functions to ensure that correct procedures are established and adhered to for achieving the maximum return possible on customer orders while continually improving responsiveness, reliability, and service. May coordinate inside sales activities with customer service staff.
- Reviews monthly the On Time Delivery for the sites in the region. Facilitates Deep Dive sessions when corrective measures on On Time Delivery are required.
- Manages inventory including Raw materials, Work in Process, and Finished Goods. Responsible for optimizing inventory levels to support customer demand fulfillment. Generates regular reporting of inventory highlighting inventory health to drive continuous improvement.
- May supervise the maintenance of purchase order/invoices/receiving records system and may prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Oversee the effective execution of strategic sourcing strategies within their BU.
- Oversee business unit and plant-level supply related escalations, partnering with key internal and external stakeholders to drive timely resolution
- Responsible for leading a team of buyers to meet supply chain cost savings targets by collaborating with cross-functional leadership to drive savings initiatives across various locations, ensuring successful implementation and measurable cost reductions.
- Coach and mentor a team of buyers in key areas such as data analysis, purchasing, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and day-to-day procurement activities. Provide guidance to enhance their skills and ensure efficient buying practices.
- Coordinates the monthly S&OP supply review process for the business unit ensuring capacity or staffing constraints are understood and communicated effectively.
- Facilitate regular SIOP cycles, focusing on the supply response of organizational executives regarding demand/supply plans, issues, and mitigating/optimizing actions
- Instrumental in continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking, and identification of improved methods or tools to increase efficiency.
- Reviews and analyze reports, records and directives, and confers with planners/managers/supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
- Provides clarification to employees on issues pertaining to department processes, supply and purchase orders.
- May monitor, review, and approve employee time records in a timely manner to meet established deadlines.
- Conducts interviewing process and makes recommendations on appropriate candidate to fill vacancy.
- Prepares and administers on-time delivery of employee performance review by effectively communicating work performance standards and setting realistic goals.
- Enforces attendance and work rules uniformly and recommends when counseling or discipline is required.
- With assistance from Human Resources, conducts disciplinary meetings with employees.
- Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or 7 years of Production Planning and/or SIOP/Integrated Business Planning work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- APICS or related certifications desired
Experience:
7 years of production planning experience
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Solid project management skills to effectively organize priorities and works under deadlines to produce high quality results. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to lead change and drive results. System skills to organize data. Solution orientated mindset with a deep-seated desire and drive and optimize how we serve our customers.
- Data savvy: able to quickly merge data from multiple sources, manipulate it, and present it intelligibly to explain the situation (i.e., tell the story)
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite, emphasis on excel. Experience in QAD, SAP, and SAP’s IBP module are a major plus.
- Strong communication skills:
- Comfortable working cross functionally, both internally and external to CoorsTek
- Able to navigate difficult meetings with professionalism
- Able to create concise email and PowerPoint communications
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of customer products, data, terminology, and needs
- Develop knowledge of CoorsTek manufacturing processes, lead-times, and strategies
- Able to work successfully with people across the US and Europe
- Ability to travel when needed internationally/domestically up to 25% of the time
