
Adjunct Instructor/Media Production/Robertson School (Rolling Pool)
Job Description
The Robertson School of Communication at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) seeks experienced and dynamic adjunct instructors to teach hands-on courses in its Media Production sequence. The successful candidate will bring practical experience in video production, video post-production, visual effects editing ,audio production, scriptwriting, documentary, media entrepreneurship and emerging media platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare course syllabi, assignments, projects, and assessments in alignment with departmental standards. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. Hold virtual or in-person office hours as required. Engage students through active learning strategies and real-world media practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge in media trends, tools, and industry best practices.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Media Production, Film, Communication, or a closely related field. Demonstrated professional experience in media production (film, television, digital media, or audio). Teaching experience at the college level or equivalent training experience. Proficiency with industry-standard production and editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools).
Preferred Qualifications MFA in Film/Media Production or related discipline. Experience teaching in hybrid or online formats. Strong portfolio of professional or creative work. Ability to support diverse learners and foster inclusive classroom environments.
