Call for Experts: Assurance Review Roster

The call is open until 12th June 2026

With a growing volume of LUF projects in our portfolio, including increasing requirements related to Paris Agreement alignment, Gold Standard is scaling up its qualified LUF ROE pool to ensure:

  • Adequate technical depth across LUF project types

  • Timely delivery of assurance reviews

  • Strong operational readiness and quality assurance outcomes

We are therefore inviting additional experienced LUF experts to join our Roster of Experts Panel for technical review of GS4GG projects (specially for Land Use & Forestry). The applications for other sectoral scopes (like energy, waste) are also invited.

As an Assurance Review Expert (LUF), you will conduct independent technical reviews of projects submitted for design and performance certification under the Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) framework.

You will assess project documentation, applied methodologies and monitoring results to ensure compliance with GS4GG requirements and uphold Gold Standard’s rigorous assurance principles. Engagements are offered on a call‑off, per‑review basis depending on project demand and expertise fit.

We need individuals who can uphold the highest standards of quality assurance in Land use, land-use change, forestry and agriculture projects delivering carbon emission reduction and sustainable development projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review project documentation, including:

    • Project Design Documents (PDDs)

    • Monitoring reports

    • Validation / verification‑related materials

  • Assess compliance with GS4GG requirements, with a focus on:

    • Methodology application

    • Emission reduction or removal calculations

    • Sustainable development impacts

    • Safeguarding principles

  • Provide clear, evidence‑based review findings and recommendations

  • Participate in mandatory training, calibration meetings and follow‑up discussions as required 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced university degree (Master's) in Forestry, agriculture, soil science, ecology, or related discipline (For LUF specific scope)

  • Advanced university degree (Master's) in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline (For other scopes)

  • Minimum 6+ years of work experience in AFOLU, forestry, sustainable land management, or nature-based solutions projects, and deep climate and development projects expertise in relevant scope if applying for other sectoral scopes, with demonstrated knowledge of Gold Standard and GS4GG standards

  • Technical expertise in AFOLU GHG quantification methodologies ( like A/R methodology, SOC Framework Methodology, Rice AWD, Sustainable management of Mangroves) and proven experience with baseline/monitoring methodologies across multiple project types

  • Practical experience with carbon stock assessment, biomass inventories, soil sampling and laboratory analysis, performance benchmark or dynamic baseline, remote sensing/GIS, or stratified sampling design is highly desirable

  • Proven track record in implementing Gold Standard activities, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) with demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Reviews must typically be completed within 7 days of receiving project documentation

  • Experts should expect to dedicate 3–5 days per review assignment

  • Availability is also required for:

    • Bi‑annual calibration meetings

    • Mandatory training sessions

    • Ad‑hoc clarification or follow‑up discussions

REMUNERATION

  • A standard per‑review fee is offered in line with Gold Standard’s approved fee schedule

  • Fees are reviewed biennially and may be adjusted in line with market conditions

  • Where applicable, travel and subsistence costs are covered in line with Gold Standard travel policies

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Initial Screening: All applications will be reviewed for completeness and basic eligibility requirements. Only candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will proceed to the next stage.

  • Technical Assessment: Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a technical evaluation to demonstrate their knowledge of GS4GG standards and review capabilities.

  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will participate in an interview with the Gold Standard technical team to discuss their experience, expertise, and approach to project reviews.

  • Final Selection: Successful candidates will receive an offer to join the Roster of Experts Panel and will be required to sign a service provider agreement.

The entire process typically takes 6-8 weeks from application to final selection. Selected experts will undergo an orientation program before beginning their first review.

RESTRICTIONS

  • Experts shall not be a direct employee of a Gold Standard-approved Validation and Verification Body (VVB).
