Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Arts and Crafts Instructor to join our summer camp team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art, a love for working with children, and the ability to create a fun and engaging environment where campers can explore their artistic abilities. As the Arts and Crafts Instructor, you will lead various arts and crafts activities, fostering creativity, self-expression, and teamwork among campers aged [age group].

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a variety of arts and crafts activities, including painting, drawing, sculpture, beadwork, tie-dye, and more.
  • Provide instructions and demonstrations to campers, ensuring they understand the process and techniques involved.
  • Encourage campers to explore their creativity and express themselves through various art forms.
  • Manage and supervise a group of campers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Organize and maintain a clean and well-stocked arts and crafts supply area.
  • Collaborate with fellow camp staff to integrate arts and crafts projects into the overall camp experience.
  • Adapt projects for different skill levels and ensure that each camper has a positive and successful experience.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive camp environment.
  • Communicate with camp leadership and parents regarding any camper concerns or special needs.
  • Lead group discussions and activities to showcase campers’ artwork, encouraging pride in their creations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a camp or educational setting.
  • A strong background in visual arts, crafts, or related fields.
  • Ability to teach a variety of art techniques in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Creative, patient, and enthusiastic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide personalized instruction.
  • Organized and capable of managing materials and supplies efficiently.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of camp).
  • Previous camp or teaching experience is a plus.
