Job Description
Summary Supports the outpatient therapy centers by accepting all referrals for treatment,
verifying insurance benefits, facilitating authorization for treatment, scheduling the initial visit for ` evaluation and performing other related tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Obtaining all necessary patient and insurance information to facilitate the intake process.
- Clinical documentation as required for insurance approval including entering each authorization and verified benefits into the system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensuring that the patients right to privacy is not violated.
- Scheduling patients initial visit within 1working day of approval, for a single discipline.
- Logging all referrals/inquiries on the outpatient daily log.
- Working closely with the clinic manager and clinicians to ensure that patients receive their therapy in a timely manner.
- Proper data entry into EMR on all required fields.
- Assuring all prescriptions are current on new outpatients.
- Maintaining regular contact with and provides documentation to the workers compensation commission, physicians, and insurance companies, as necessary.
- Preparing/ordering departmental supplies and equipment.
- Updating EMR with pertinent outpatient statistical data.
- Actively participating in department meetings.
- Identifying problems and presenting possible solutions to supervisor as they occur.
- Following all customer service policies and initiatives.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
One to two years training and/or certification in the medical field preferred.
CPR certified preferred. Must have valid drivers license in the State of Texas.
