Assistant Catering Officer

As an Assistant Catering Officer at BSM Catering Services, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate provision of catering supplies to assigned vessels, supporting smooth vessel operations and maintaining a strong link between ship and shore. The role plays a key part in executing catering plans, managing supplier interactions, and upholding quality standards that directly impact onboard service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute catering plans for assigned vessels and manage the purchasing of required supplies.

• Review client requests and contract requirements, obtain quotations from third parties, and evaluate them against defined financial and qualitative criteria.

• Prepare purchase orders for approved suppliers and monitor their timely execution.

• Conduct quality control checks to ensure supplied products meet required standards.

• Coordinate with suppliers and onboard personnel to secure prompt and accurate delivery of goods.

• Prepare and maintain supply dockets to support accurate and compliant delivery processes.

• Monitor and record vessel consumption rates to recommend adjustments to catering plans and support contract improvements.

• Coordinate briefings, interview schedules, assessments, and training activities for catering staff.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Hotel Management.

• One year of experience in a premium hotel, service industry, food industry, or supply chain environment.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of food production and food and beverage service.

• Understanding of food ingredients and global dietary habits.

• Strong communication abilities.

• Fluency in English.
