Job Description

  • Prepare lumber and building materials orders as needed to ensure items are always in stock for customers. Submit special orders for customers (custom doors, windows, etc.).
  • Review material orders for accuracy/quality and report discrepancies. Maintain appropriate inventory and adjust for discrepancies based on Elder’s Standards.
  • Monitor market pricing for lumber and suggest retail price changes. Prepare customer quotes and material lists.
  • Maintain overall appearance of lumber yard and collaborate with leadership on special projects.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly delivery schedules for materials ensuring deliveries are accurate and timely.
  • Build rapport with customers, contractors, and current/future vendors.
  • Assist in day-to-day store operations as needed (general maintenance, freight, assisting customers on the sales floor, and any other tasks assigned by store leadership).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education is a plus.
  • Experience in Lumber and Building Material Industry managing orders and inventory.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP software and Microsoft office skills.
  • Experience managing a busy delivery schedule.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to maintain high standards of customer service and on-time deliveries.
  • Familiarity with building plans and experience writing take offs a plus.
  • Positive attitude and dedication to continue supporting a quickly growing Lumber and building material business.
