Job Description
Lockton Re’s AHL actuarial team is expanding, and we’re looking for a skilled actuary to join us. This role will focus on health reinsurance products, contributing to innovative analytics that help clients manage risk and capital.
What You'll Work On:
Our actuarial team drives impactful analytics & advisory services across a range of reinsurance solutions. Recent projects include:
- Structuring health reinsurance placements for insurers across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid markets, as well as MGUs offering stop-loss coverage for self-funded employers.
- Developing capital-motivated transactions to help insurers efficiently manage risk-based capital requirements.
- Supporting financial risk management in Value-Based Care (VBC) arrangements, including modeling downside risk & structuring coverage for provider risk arrangements.
- Advising startups and investors on reinsurance & risk strategies.
- Evaluating captives and alternative risk financing approaches.
Key responsibilities:
- Support actuarial analysis to evaluate pricing and retention levels for AHL reinsurance treaties, including data processing and refinement.
- Work with brokers, reinsurers, and clients to ingest and review data needed for creating reinsurance treaty submissions.
- Collaborate on enhancements to AHL actuarial models (ex. pricing & underwriting models across stop loss, provider excess, VBC, capital motivated).
- Contribute to creation & implementation of benchmarking, dashboards, and predictive models for AHL clients – leveraging detailed, large claims line-level datasets to build out analytics capabilities.
- Assist in preparing and delivering client-ready analyses and presentations, with opportunities for direct client engagement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (brokers, actuaries, data/analytics, capital advisory) to support project execution.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: 1-3 years of actuarial work in AHL reinsurance / healthcare / benefits / health insurance
- Knowledge of health reinsurance & stop-loss products preferred.
- Pricing and/or underwriting experience is a strong advantage.
- Bonus: Exposure to Life, DI, or Accident products (nice-to-have, but not required).
Technical Skills:
- Financial modeling experience in excel.
- Ideally proficient in SQL, R, Python, PySpark, or similar tools for handling large datasets.
- Dashboarding expertise is a strong advantage.

- Strong communication skills with an interest in client-facing work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to balance multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
