Position Overview

Ferguson is hiring a technical outside sales professional to lead and grow our commercial water heater (CWH) business throughout the greater Denver Metro area. This is a key product category with high profitability. The successful candidate demonstrates strong mechanical proficiency and a consultative sales style that emphasizes customer engagement. In partnership with outside sales teams, branch personnel, manufacturers, and contractors, you will guide customers, propose suitable solutions, and support sales and profit growth from quoting through delivery and post-sale service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and expand the commercial water heater business throughout the Denver Metro area. Set sales and profit goals for 1, 2, and 3 years, then surpass them using market analysis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with an assigned customer base, including key national accounts, mechanical and service plumbing contractors, engineers, and building owners.
  • Prospect new business with a focus on water heater replacement, retrofit, and new construction opportunities.
  • Provide technical consultation in the field: mechanical room walkthroughs, equipment sizing and system building, and safety/site inspections for product recommendations.
  • Prepare quotes, write orders, and develop pricing for replacement units and equipment in line with brand strategy and market integrity.
  • Coordinate with branch personnel—warehouse, drivers, and dispatch—to ensure excellent service from order to delivery to post-sale.
  • Manage CWH and related inventory, and monitor sales trends and product performance results.
  • Build and maintain manufacturer and rep firm relationships to achieve sales, inventory, and training objectives.
  • Provide capabilities training and sales presentations to outside sales teams, branch staff, and customers; represent Ferguson at counter days, trade shows, and customer trainings.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of relevant sales experience, preferably in commercial plumbing, mechanical, or HVAC distribution.
  • Strong mechanical competence and a consultative sales approach; technical degree a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills; comfortable building relationships and working as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of commercial water heaters, tankless, boilers, and hydronic equipment a plus.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Current driver’s license required; frequent travel throughout the Denver Metro area, with occasional overnight trips when necessary.

Pay Range:

$5,519.70 - $12,017.50

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
