Job Description
Diagnostician, Special Education
Location: Special Education Department at Central Office/ Various Elementary, Middle and High Schools
Position Purpose:
To schedule, administer, and score individual achievement assessments as well as score behavior and adaptive rating scales under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education; To work alongside School Psychologists and supervise students engaged in assessments with virtual staff
Essential Functions:
Schedules assessments and student evaluation sessions with a variety of school based personnel
Supervises students engaged in assessments
Conducts individual achievement assessments
Scores assessments and behavior and adaptive rating scales
Partners with School Psychologist in completing student assessments at various schools
Accesses Infinite Campus for essential student information
Provides results to School Psychologists in a timely manner
Maintains detailed records
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks, as assigned by supervisor
Equipment:
Testing materials, computerized scoring programs, copy machines, computers, and iPads along with any other materials deemed appropriate for position
Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings
Itinerant position working with multiple schools across the district
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Knowledge of general education and special education policies and procedures
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Knowledge of testing materials and administration guidelines of testing materials
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work (Administrators, psychologists, teachers, counselors, school nurses, social workers and others)
Ability to be a self-starter, be highly organized, intrinsically motivated, and flexible
Ability to work with students within a wide age and ability range
Ability to understand training to master administration of assessments according to standardized procedures
Ability to organize and coordinate schedules
Ability to provide each student a positive, safe, and encouraging atmosphere
Ability to be detail oriented, follow administration/testing guidelines, and maintain detailed records
Ability to use scoring software for achievement, behavior, and adaptive assessments
Ability to produce accurate reports in a timely manner
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Works in standard office and school building environments
Qualifications Profile:
Georgia State Certification as Teacher (Special Education field preferred)
Motor Vehicle Operator's License and ability to provide own transportation
Education:
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable for assignment
Experience:
Successful education teaching experience of at least 5 years (Special Education field preferred)
