Position Details:

The Opportunity:

Washington State University Health Sciences Department is now accepting applications for a Health Sciences K-12 Coordinator. As the K-12 Coordinator you will be responsible for the outreach, recruitment, development, and management of pre-health, health pathways, and the visitation programs of K-12 programs. In this role you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate new and existing Native American Health Pathway programs to include Na-ha-shnee STEAM Summer Institute and bring attention to the various Health Sciences programs. You will also work with tribal communities, their K-12 education systems and leaders, families, tribal community colleges, and other higher education institution partners to present WSU Health Sciences and WSU Native American Health Sciences (NAHS) programming to future students.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruitment, Outreach, and Visitation Coordination: 45%

  • Program Planning & Implementation: 30%

  • Student/Participant Retention and Advising: 20%

  • Other Duties as Assigned: 5%

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary position. The position is overtime eligible.

This is a fixed-term, grant funded position expected to end on July 15, 2028.

Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

This is an on-site/in-person role located on WSU campus in Pullman, WA.


Monthly Salary$3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. For additional information, please review WSU’s Administrative Professional Compensation Structure.

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience speaking in front of large groups.

  • Experience in program planning and administration.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite, including Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

  • Ability to travel and to work some weekends and evenings with occasional overnight travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Demonstrated experience and involvement in successfully working and communicating with Native American/Alaska Native populations.

  • Knowledge of tribal community educational needs.

  • Experience with student information systems.

  • Knowledge of student recruitment and college admissions.

  • Knowledge of admissions procedures, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships.

  • Knowledge of Washington State University programs, policies and procedures.

  • Experience with event planning/programs for student organizations.

  • Experience with marketing and communications.
