Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead client programming workshops to identify lab needs, scientific workflows, operational patterns, and equipment requirements
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between planning concepts, equipment strategies, and MEP system requirements
- Oversee and guide the work of Lab Planner I and II team members; provide mentorship, coaching, and quality control
- Evaluate and maintain internal lab standards, data resources, and best practices across the team
- Provide thought leadership on trends in research, equipment, safety, and regulatory requirements
Job Duties:
- Develop critical early planning deliverables such as Basis of Design documents, spatial programs, planning diagrams, and equipment strategies
- Shape planning concepts, lab organization, and service distribution strategies—and ensure they carry through SD, DD, and CDs
- Represent the lab‑planning discipline in client meetings, interviews, and business development opportunities
- Participate in construction administration for lab‑related components—reviewing submittals, participating in mockups, and occasionally visiting sites
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design required or a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc. and experience working in the Life Sciences/Biotech/Medical Research Industry in the capacity of a Bench Scientist, Research Group Lead, Lab Operations Manager, or as a Facilities Planner
