Job Description

Job Summary: This primary responsibility of this position is to support the mission of Concordia Language Village by producing high quality, culturally appropriate meals in a clean and safe work environment. Job Duties/What You'll Do Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position. Food Production – 65% Prepare, cook, and serve meals for special events, Village Weekend Programs, Adult Programs, summer programs, staff meals and breaks. Maintain quality, safety sanitation standards in food handling and preparation. Prepare and advise cooking activities for Village Weekend Program. Service – 15% Set, serve, and clear tables for Special Event groups. Give meal presentations to Special Event groups. Use target language whenever possible. Maintain positive public relations for Concordia Language Villages. Cleaning and Maintenance – 15% Thoroughly clean kitchens and dining area. Wash dishes. Recycle. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. Report equipment repairs. Record Keeping – 5% Prepare task list for shift. Maintain dialogue with Kitchen Coordinators and Lead Cooks regarding specific recipes, meals and general needs. Count participants for Special Events. What We're Looking For Skills and Abilities: Ability to use mathematics to solve a problem Ability to read and write Effective time management skills Good oral, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a diverse group of people Ability to work independently and as a team member Ability to provide effective, accurate and professional internal and external communication. Ability to work independently and take initiative as well as in a team environment.
