
Fluoroscopy Technologist (Full Time, Days)
Job Description
Job Summary
Produces diagnostic quality radiographs with the use of roentgen rays. Operates X-Ray and Fluoroscopy equipment to perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Assists Radiologist/Physician during Fluoroscopy procedures or as needed. Prepares examination room, equipment, supplies, and medications. Provides for patient comfort and safety during examinations.
Job Specific Duties
- Adjusts equipment, determines proper technique, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain correct patient position.
- Communicates effectively with employees, physicians, and patients.
- Follows hospital patient-identification policy prior to performing examination.
- Immediately upon completion of examination, verbally communicates with supervisor to ensure prompt review of images.
- Observes radiation safety practices at all times.
- Performs appropriate radiologic examinations as ordered.
- Floats to main radiology when not in fluoroscopy. Performs portable examinations in operating room, emergency department, and inpatient rooms.
- Prepares patient for examination, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patients, and assists patient at end of procedure.
- Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients.
- Performs Fluoroscopy images and assists Radiologist as needed. Produces high-quality radiographs and repeats views as necessary.
- Promptly upon completion of examination, enters and transmits patient information into PACS.
- Reports any equipment problems and malfunctions to appropriate person.
- Functions as a technologist in Fluoroscopy and Radiology imaging.
- Responsible for maintaining radiology competencies quarterly.
- Responsible for providing coverage for the Radiology department as needed based on staffing needs and until permanent staff is hired.
Minimum Job Requirements
- OTHER Active General X-Ray License from the State of Florida
- ARRT - American Registry of Rad Tech maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- OTHER Completed Fluoroscopy competency checklist
- CPR BLS -American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- 2 years of ARRT Registered Radiographer experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Flexibility to rotate into day, evening, and night shifts; work holidays and take call on a monthly basis.
- Able to flex to work in Main Radiology Department when not in Fluoroscopy.
- Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to problem solve and adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual client's need.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.
