Job Description

Under direct, limited, or general supervision, receives, stores, issues, distributes, ships, and documents the movement of medical supplies and equipment throughout the hospital. Utilizes handheld devices and computerized inventory management systems to accurately document and process transactions related to receiving, distribution, inventory control, and shipping activities in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and established supply chain procedures.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Physically inspects incoming supplies and equipment for accuracy, condition, and integrity; documents discrepancies and delivers items to the appropriate department.
  • Dispenses supplies and equipment to designated areas based on established PAR levels and replenishment requirements.
  • Delivers stock and non-stock supplies and equipment to user departments and places items in proper storage locations following inventory management and storage standards.
  • Accurately records all inventory transactions using handheld devices and materials management information systems.
  • Packages, documents, and ships outgoing supplies and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performs physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory audits as scheduled.
  • Reviews inventory balances and utilization trends; reports recommendations for PAR level adjustments to leadership.
  • Assists with maintaining organized, clean, and efficient storage areas through stock rotation, shelf reconfiguration, space optimization, and inventory organization.
  • Identifies outdated, expired, damaged, or recalled products and coordinates their removal and disposition with leadership.
  • Communicates stock shortages, backorders, special requests, and supply concerns to customers and leadership while assisting with resolution efforts.
  • Supports supply chain operations and performs other related duties as assigned.


Work Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical duties throughout the workday.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and inventory management software.
  • Ability to accurately receive, stock, distribute, and document inventory transactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
