Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Millwright to join our manufacturing team. The Millwright will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant. This role is essential in supporting continuous production, minimizing equipment downtime, and optimizing plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, align, and maintain machinery such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, mixers, gearboxes, motors, and production equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, including bearings, shafts, chains, belts, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures to determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
- Dismantle and reassemble machines and equipment using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, layout plans, machine drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Maintain alignment and calibration of equipment using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and laser alignment systems.
- Collaborate with electricians, mechanics, and engineers on equipment upgrades, installations, and safety improvements.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and PPE requirements.
- Document maintenance activities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives within the maintenance and production areas.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Millwright certification or equivalent industrial maintenance training/apprenticeship
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial machinery
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical documents
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, man lifts, and rigging/lifting equipment
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and respond to after-hours maintenance calls as needed
Additional / Preferred
- Welding certification (MIG/TIG/Stick)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or TPM practices
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, MP2, or similar)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Regular standing, walking, bending, crouching, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to work in elevated areas, tight spaces, and in hot or noisy environments
