The UW Medical Center-Northwest Spiritual Health & Wellbeing Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Spiritual and Bereavement Care Provider.
WORK SCHEDULE
• Per Diem
• Rotating/Variable Shifts on Saturdays and Sundays
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
• Provide high quality, cross-culturally sensitive spiritual care to patients, families and staff
• This position offers patients, families, and staff the opportunity to embrace the spiritual component of health, illness, and death by supporting and exploring ones spiritual coping practices and address any spiritual, religious or existential distress
• Attend to the diversity of cultures and spiritual needs by the multi-faith and inter-spiritual nature of our work and by our partnerships with many cultural and spiritual traditions
• Assess and respond to the complexities of spiritual, religious, and existential (SRE) distress and support and explore SRE coping practices
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Spiritual Health & Wellbeing Department is to support patients, caregivers and staff as they navigate suffering, uncertainty, and loss. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide Spiritual Care counsel including positive, supportive, discrete, respectful, kind, approachable, courteous, affirming, inclusive and welcoming assistance to patients and families and staff
• Effectively communicate with UWMC Spiritual Care Teams for highest quality plan of care coordination
• Lead after-hours Staff Care (Tea for the Soul) when requested by department
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Masters Degree of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent
• Written verbatim demonstrating best work, analysis of visit, insight and learnings and understanding of spiritual distress or other challenging. Please email a copy of verbatim directly to [email protected].
• Endorsement or statement of good standing in religious, spiritual or philosophical tradition
• Have completed at least one unit of CPE in the ACPE Program. Preference to those who have completed additional units or are eligible for APC Board Certification
• Received recommendation of ACPE supervisor (for those with only one unit)
