Location: Lysaker, Norway | Type: Full-time, Hybrid
Join Wilhelmsen Ship Management and take ownership of a modern gas carrier fleet operating in a highly specialized and safety-critical segment.
We are looking for an experienced Vessel Manager to strengthen our LPG and LNG team. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical management of a small portfolio of vessels, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations in close collaboration with owners, charterers, and onboard teams.
This is an opportunity to move into—or further develop within—a shore-based leadership role, while staying close to vessel operations and technical decision-making.
Your responsibilities:
You will have overall technical responsibility for 2–3 vessels and act as the key link between ship and shore. Your main responsibilities include:
Ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vessel operations
Maintaining compliance with class, statutory, and industry requirements
Providing day-to-day technical support to vessels
Planning and conducting vessel visits and inspections
Monitoring operational performance, including technical and cargo operations
Managing budgets, cost control, and financial follow-up
Delivering clear reporting to vessel owners and stakeholders
Participating in meetings with owners, charterers, and vessels
In addition, you will
Support incident analysis and follow-up in collaboration with HSEQ
Contribute to continuous improvement and preventive actions
Handle responses to key industry stakeholders (e.g. OCIMF, Oil Majors, CDI, RightShip)
Support charter party matters and communication with charterers
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a collaborative and structured way of working.
You likely have:
Seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer, or relevant shore-based experience (e.g. class surveyor, naval architect)
Experience with gas carriers (LNG, LPG, or similar)
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards
A strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental performance
Good communication skills in English
The ability to build relationships with vessels, owners, and internal teams
