Chief Information Officer
The Maine Community College System seeks to hire a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to serve as the Maine Community College System (MCCS) senior information technology executive. Reporting to the President of the MCCS as part of the System senior leadership team, the CIO is responsible for oversight of all MCCS information technology functions. Working closely with the system president, college presidents and members of the senior leadership team, the CIO will work to provide strategic vision, leadership, and oversight for all IT operations, ensuring that technology investments support the System’s mission to meet student educational and financial needs by providing an optimal student experience through the use of a secure database infrastructure that supports a data-driven, evidenced based strategic approach to decision making.
The position is a Confidential position. The required minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field and 10+ years of proven success with IT administration of information systems and technology with increasing levels of executive responsibility with a demonstrated understanding of a higher education environment.
The preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field and 5+ years of proven success with IT administration of information systems and technology with increasing levels of executive responsibility with a demonstrated understanding of a higher education environment. Experience with enterprise applications such as Ellucian is helpful, as is experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Knowledge of information technology and systems sufficient to oversee an efficient, effective, and successful IT division in a higher education environment
• Financial skills sufficient to develop, explain and implement an IT budget plan
• Managerial skills allowing for the motivation of a high-functioning IT division
• Interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively and problem solve with a diverse group of individuals
• Proven ability to develop, and execute short - and long-term IT division and system goals
• Proven ability to ensure compliance with all governmental rules and regulations regarding IT operations including oversight for cybersecurity, and the safeguard of personally identifiable data
