About the Role 

The Certified Medical Assistant will support our medical office and clinical staff by performing essential tasks in both patient care and administrative roles. This position requires a strong background in clinical assistance, including phlebotomy, medication administration, and general office duties. The ideal candidate will also provide support in telepsychiatry sessions and help manage medication inventory and prescription refill coordination.

We are seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA/AAMA) to join our Durham team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting both medical and administrative functions within our behavioral health clinic, ensuring a smooth and responsive experience for clients and medical staff alike. If you are a compassionate and skilled Certified Medical Assistant (CNA certification not accepted), with experience in phlebotomy and a current CPR certification, this is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful care in a community-focused environment.

  • Clinical Support:

    • Assist in medical office visits, take vital signs, and perform phlebotomy and specimen processing.
    • Conduct CLIA-waived testing and administer intramuscular injections as needed.
    • Manage sample medication inventory and coordinate prescription refills and prior authorizations.
    • Assist with telepsychiatry appointments, ensuring all equipment and patient setups are complete.
  • Medication and Treatment Coordination:

    • Maintain Medical Administration Records (MAR) for injectable medications.
    • Track Clozapine patients, coordinate lab screenings, and communicate results to providers and pharmacies to ensure continuity of care.
    • Manage proper medication disposal procedures for agency stock.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Provide administrative support for medical office activities, including patient scheduling and communication.
    • Assist with inventory management and stock of medical supplies.
    • Coordinate medical record requests from previous facilities and support patient education initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Support providers and clinical staff with prescription refill requests and additional tasks as needed.
    • Travel to other clinic locations as needed to ensure consistent patient care across sites.

Compensation 

Competitive hourly pay aligned with your role, experience, and contribution, with opportunities for growth over time.

  • Compensation: $19.10 - $24.53

Placement within the range is based on licensure level, education, and experience.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA or AAMA required); CNA certification is not accepted.

  • Certification: Current CPR certification required.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
