JOB TITLE: Crossing Guard - Police Dept

 

DUTY DAYS: 178

 

PAY GRADE: N04

 

SALARY SCHEDULE:

 

 

 

Primary Purpose:

 

 

 

Ensure students gets safely across designated intersections

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

 

Education/Certification:

 
  • GED/High School Diploma
 

 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 
  • Ability to communicate with children and public
  • Ability to read map and follow directions
 

Experience:

 
  • Experience preferred, but not required
  • Must have valid Texas Driver's license
  • Must have dependable transportation
 

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 
  1. Cross students as designated areas safely.
  2. Instruct students on basic safety dealing with crossing an intersection.
  3. Cross any pedestrian at the designated location: Elementary, Intermediate, High School.
  4. Be constantly alert and aware of all traffic, moving or stopped and any other circumstances that may affect the safety of the students.
  5. Report traffic violations such as speeding, failure to stop, block cross walk by recording license plate numbers and description of vehicle to immediate supervisor and/or PISD Police Dept.
  6. In an emergency, take charge until proper authorities are notified and have arrived.
  7. Use and care for all equipment that is issued for the task.
  8. Guard must maintain self-control at all times.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions.

 

 

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; steady phone interactions; moderate standing, walking, and bending.
