Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction aligned with school and diocesan expectations
- Use a Classical and inquiry-based approach to cultivate wonder, observation, and reasoning
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
Hands-On and Laboratory Learning (Essential Requirement)
- Design and implement weekly hands-on, experimental, and lab-based learning experiences
- Ensure students regularly engage in:
- Scientific investigation
- Data collection and analysis
- Problem-solving and real-world application
- Maintain a safe and organized lab environment, modeling proper procedures and scientific responsibility
- Promote discovery-based learning that allows students to experience science as an exploration of God's creation
Curriculum and Planning
- Develop lesson plans that integrate:
- Scientific knowledge and skills
- Critical thinking and inquiry
- Cross-curricular connections
- Incorporate resources to enhance instruction
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives
Assessment and Student Growth
- Assess student progress through formative and summative methods
- Provide timely and constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student performance
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and academic expectations
Classroom Environment and Culture
- Create a structured, positive, and faith-filled classroom environment
- Promote respect, responsibility, and collaboration among students
- Support the development of virtues consistent with Catholic teaching
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Fulfill Archdiocesan and TCCB ED professional requirements
- Collaborate with administration and colleagues to continuously improve instruction
- Uphold all school policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid teaching certification (Texas or ability to obtain)
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Practicing Catholic preferred; must be supportive of the Catholic mission
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Passion for educating the whole child: mind, body, and spirit
