POSITION SUMMARY
The OCS Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the clinical application and operational success of the Organ Care System (OCS Lung, Liver, and Heart platforms) across the Netherlands and broader European region. This field-based role partners closely with transplant centers, clinical teams, and internal TransMedics stakeholders to support organ retrieval, preservation, transportation, assessment, and customer education activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Complete hands-on training and obtain OCS Certification across all relevant organ platforms- OCS Lung/ Liver/ Heart.
Support the clinical use of OCS technology during organ retrieval, preservation, transportation, and assessment in accordance with TransMedics protocols and clinical standards.
Work a variable on-call schedule to support urgent transplant cases, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in compliance with local labor regulations.
Travel as needed to transplant centers and clinical sites within the EU transplant network and other geographies to support OCS cases and customer needs.
Provide real-time case updates and escalate issues to the TransMedics EU Clinical Programs and Training Lead, as appropriate.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clinicians, transplant centers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Support regional meetings, workshops, and events by providing clinical expertise to customers and internal commercial teams.
Prepare and present internal case reviews following OCS utilization.
Manage OCS equipment at the Netherlands logistics hub, including maintenance, inventory management, troubleshooting, and routine testing.
Support site initiations, refresher trainings, and ongoing clinical education for OCS users.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical, Commercial, Operations, and Training teams to support adoption and growth of OCS technology within the Netherlands and broader European market.
Assist in delivering product and clinical training to internal sales and commercial teams.
Stay informed on relevant clinical literature, market trends, and competitive developments.
Represent TransMedics at national and international congresses, industry meetings, and customer engagements.
Perform additional duties as required to support business and clinical operations.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any direct reports
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 35 kg and safely navigate aircraft stairs with equipment, comply with TransMedics’ medical screening requirements and able to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks during extended case coverage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Techniques of Cardiocirculatory Pathophysiology and Vascular Perfusion (or equivalent qualification) and a minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience required.
Certification from the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and active registration with the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Perfusionisten required.
Fluency in Dutch and English, written and spoken, required (minimum B2 English level).
Must reside within a reasonable distance of the Netherlands logistics hub.
Must be highly flexible and willing to support urgent transplant cases during nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Ability to build and maintain trusted professional relationships internally and externally.
Strong customer-facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced, high-pressure clinical environments.
Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and expense management systems such as Concur.
