Medical Strategist
Job Description
The Medical Strategist provides strategic medical direction across healthcare brands, client engagements, and new business opportunities. This role translates complex clinical and scientific information into clear brand strategy, competitive positioning, and promotional guidance. The Medical Strategist partners with client services, strategy, creative, and senior medical leaders to shape work that is scientifically rigorous, strategically sound, and relevant to healthcare audiences.
What You’ll Do
- Guide medical strategy across assigned healthcare brands, including scientific narratives, competitive positioning, and promotional content direction.
- Translate clinical data and therapeutic landscape insights into clear recommendations for client teams, creative teams, and strategy partners.
- Develop medical downloads, competitive analyses, POVs, and pitch content that support brand planning and new business proposals.
- Review campaign materials, presentations, and strategic deliverables from a medical, scientific, and brand strategy perspective.
- Build trusted relationships with client medical stakeholders by presenting scientific recommendations clearly and confidently.
Required:
- Several years of relevant medical strategy, medical communications, healthcare advertising, or life sciences experience supporting pharmaceutical or healthcare brands.
- MSc or similar post-graduate degree in a scientific, medical, pharmacy, or related discipline, with evidence of applying clinical knowledge to brand or communications strategy.
- Experience developing scientific narratives, competitive analyses, medical downloads, or strategic recommendations for HCP, patient, or payer audiences.
- Experience presenting medical or scientific recommendations to senior clients, cross-functional agency teams, or internal leadership.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing principles, promotional strategy, and how clinical evidence supports brand differentiation.
- Observable experience leading cross-functional discussions, moderating senior stakeholders, or aligning teams around complex scientific content.
Desired:
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
- PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific or clinical credential.
- Experience supporting new business pitches, RFP responses, or launch planning for life sciences clients.
- Therapeutic area depth in oncology, immunology, rare disease, specialty care, or another complex category.
- Experience partnering with creative, strategy, client services, medical affairs, or regulatory teams in an agency environment.
