Job Description

Change the world. Love your job.
As a Systems Engineer (SEM), your primary role is to engage with customers and provide solutions that cut across device, board and software recommendations for a given application, usually in the form of a reference design. Systems/applications engineers will mostly work closely with our sales, marketing, and applications teams to demonstrate how our products can be used most efficiently in each system. This role may work across product portfolios and businesses or within a business to provide more depth in a given sector or market.

Core Responsibility

  • Hardware Development – Capture schematics, perform PCB layout, and execute board‑level validation (signal integrity, EMC, power integrity) for medical‑grade reference designs.
  • Signal‑Chain Architecture – Design end‑to‑end analog/mixed‑signal signal chains (amplifiers, filters, ADC/DAC, isolation) that meet stringent medical performance specs (low noise, high linearity, compliance).
  • Embedded & Edge‑AI Integration – Implement SOC/MCU firmware, driver stacks, and lightweight AI inference engines for edge AI on wearable devices (e.g., health‑monitoring, biosignal classification). Optimize power, memory, and latency to meet wearable form‑factor constraints.
  • Wireless Connectivity – Engineer Bluetooth, BLE, Wi‑Fi, Thread, or other low‑power wireless links for telemetry, remote monitoring, and IoT‑enabled health devices.
  • Technical Documentation – Author application notes, white papers, reference‑design guides, and regulatory compliance hand‑books that clearly communicate design intent, test methodology, performance data, and AI algorithm integration guidance.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration – Work directly with OEM design engineers, field teams, and product managers to assess system requirements, troubleshoot issues (lab testing, schematic analysis), and deliver rapid resolutions.
  • Business Enablement – Identify market trends and emerging medical standards, propose new reference‑design opportunities (including edge‑AI wearables), and support sales with technical training, presentations, and solution briefings.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership – Coordinate with analog, RF, digital, firmware, AI, reliability, and regulatory groups to ensure reference designs are compliant, and ready for production hand‑off.
  • Independent Execution – Manage entire design cycles from concept through validation with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks, and driving results autonomously when required.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 + years of hands‑on experience in hardware design (schematic capture, PCB layout, and board validation).
  • Proven expertise in analog/mixed‑signal signal‑chain design for sensor‑based applications.
  • Experience integrating SoC/MCU platforms and developing associated firmware/driver code.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and validate wireless connectivity solutions (Bluetooth, BLE, Wi‑Fi, etc.).
  • Strong technical writing background with published application notes, white papers, or similar documentation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (M.S) in Electrical/Biomedical/Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • Direct experience in the medical or healthcare device market and familiarity with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Edge‑AI expertise – hands‑on experience developing or deploying AI inference on low‑power wearables (e.g., TinyML, TensorFlow‑Lite Micro, ONNX Runtime for microcontrollers). Ability to optimize models for latency, power, and memory while meeting medical‑grade safety requirements.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with internal teams (FAE, product line, compliance) and external customers/partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Quick ramp‑up on new architectures, design tools, and internal processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities; proven track record of delivering projects on schedule.
  • Demonstrated teamwork across mechanical, software, regulatory, and business functions.
  • Initiative‑driven, results‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities with effective time‑management.
  • Able to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and driving them to completion without constant supervision.
