Job Description
JOB TITLE: Clinical Team Leader (CTL)
REPORTS TO: Division Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: The Clinical Team Leader is a qualified Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist who is responsible for the development, management and evaluation of therapists in a particular region and/or discipline.
This position is a combination of direct patient care and management but is much heavier on management of a larger team. The number of weekly patient visits is determined by the number of visits the CTL team is producing and calculated on a sliding scale as well as if the CTL supervising assistant(s). The expectation is to grow SLP teams to produce at least 600 billable visits per week, and OT/PT teams to produce at least 500 visits per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provides quality therapy services including professional evidence-based therapy, accurate and complete documentation, and coordination of care
- Supervision of assistant(s) if team is not completing the 400-500 visits per week as outlined above or treating patients on sliding scale as determined by the needs of the division
- Acts as a clinical expert in his/her discipline
- May also serve as a specialist for HRI or feeding programs
- Performs all duties in compliance with agency policies and procedures. Adheres to all rules, regulations, code of ethics, guidelines and codes in federal, state and local laws which are concerned with the delivery of home-based therapy services
- Acts as a Super User for the EMR
- Responsible for the day-to-day management and direct supervision of his/her direct reports
- The CTL will manage all aspects of the performance of their direct reports, including documentation
New Hires
- Partners with Community Relations Representative and Office Management to strategically interview and hire therapists, taking into account divisional capacity, attendance and productivity of current staff
- Responsible for ensuring therapists participate in statewide orientation through utilization of Clinical Orientation Trainers (COTs) and cohort groups
Team Management/Clinical Excellence
- Meets company policy timelines for submission of personal documentation and holds direct reports responsible for same timelines
- Responsible for approving and submitting all Evaluations and Re-Evaluations for direct reports, utilizing Clinical Orientation Trainers (COTs) as appropriate
- Responsible for approving admission paperwork, frequency change requests, discharge summaries, and ensuring individualized care for patients, utilizing Clinical Orientation Trainers (COTs) as appropriate
- Provides education/guidance to therapists regarding documentation o Responsible for timely approval of PTO, for direct reports.
- Evaluates performance, works with therapist staff to develop a professional development plan as part of the performance reviews and implements verbal and written warnings, in conjunction with Human Resources Dept
- Monitors and enforces the capacity, attendance and productivity goals of his/her therapy staff
- Assists with employee engagement activities
- Ensures appropriate supervision for Interns and Assistants according to state and national guidelines for direct reports, utilizing Clinical Supervisors to assist in documentation expectations
- Provides office hours and/or group meetings to cascade information as well as provide clinical support
- Shadow and mentor visits of direct reports as necessary
- Utilization of business acumen principles in order to drive growth of their team
Leadership
- Acts as a liaison between senior leadership and field / support staff if Division Director is unavailable
- Provide regular updates to the Division Director regarding therapist related issues
- Assists Division Director with emergency preparedness activities
- Assists with strategic planning of the division
- Partners with Community Liaisons to attend Community Events
- Assists in assigning therapists as Clinical Instructors for students
- Utilizes Knowledge Is Now to assist therapists with continuing education needs
- Identifies clinical growth areas for therapists and pairs them with appropriate mentors for skill development
- Responsible for team payroll processes
- Assists and manages the process for coordinating and completing audits and other projects as directed by leadership
- Generates operational reports as assigned
- Any other essential duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate of an accredited program in his/her discipline.
• Currently licensed and approved to practice in his/her discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of home health experience.
• Experience operating common point of care software.
• 1-3 years of previous Health Care management preferred.
• 1-3 years' experience in a pediatric care setting.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, or similar.
• Must be physically and legally able to operate a vehicle.
