JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individualized instruction while leading the entire cycling class.
- Provide a safe group fitness class with curated, varied and multiplanar movements.
- Utilize each exercise participant’s name and support them in accomplishing their individual fitness goals.
- Ensure the safety of all exercise participants at all times.
- Vary exercise routines while complying with established formats and standards.
- Design exercise routines, curate music and class format in accordance with the group fitness department at The St. James and ACE or AFAA guidelines.
- Monitor and record class attendance.
- Maintain music and microphone volume at an acceptable level. (below 85 decibels)
- Greet each member and guest with a smile and personalized comment.
- Arrive early to class and stay after class to answer participant’s questions.
- Actively seek member and guest needs and concerns and use this information to provide appropriate motivation.
- Assist in promoting other health and fitness related programs at The St. James.
- Complete class checklist for area cleanliness.
- Comply with established dress code.
- Check e-mail and text messages for any updates prior to each class.
- With the assistance of the Group Fitness Manager, locate a suitable substitute teacher if unable to instruct class and immediately inform Group Fitness Manager and front desk staff with any issues relating to arriving to class on time.
- Attend all scheduled meetings and training workshops.
- Ensure class begins and ends on time.
- Communicate with the Group Fitness and Health Club Managers on member feedback, equipment and operational status, scheduling, and subbing
- Follow all safety policies of The St. James and contribute to a work environment that is clean, safe, and filled with positive energy for all athletes, coaches, and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One-year cycling instructor work experience.
- Must possess a current Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM are acceptable) or a degree in a related field.
- Certification in specific exercise format(s) preferred.
- Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Proven leadership ability in an educational, fitness or professional setting.
- Have experience teaching Group Fitness classes in a related discipline.
- High performing individual who is passionate about inspiring others and knowledgeable regarding the fitness industry.
- Must be eager to learn and continue professional development and education.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Background check required.
